Description

So this is what my drawing looked like before I ruined it with watercolors. I don't understand how to use watercolors at all. Please help me, if you use them often and stuff.
I really need to learn how to use them :/

I like this sketch :) Especially the eyes, the way you make them is just so... nice.
Though I'm no expert in watercolor, I suppose the few tips I could give would be

1. You don't need too much. my first mistake when I first tried was LOTS OF PIGMENT, and LOTS OF WATER, which ended up with LOTS OF UGLINESS XD

2. Patience! I'm a horribly impatient person. You're supposed to start off with one layer, then wait for it to dry, then another layer of color, but.... well, all my colors bled together and made this icky goop in the middle of my pictures, since they were all still wet. This is the main reason I have a love/hate relationship with watercolors - I love using them, but I can't stand it at the same time.

3. Mixing. Before I tell you, this is probably the most wrong way to mix colors, so feel free to ignore. I have watercolors in tubes, so basically I squeeze a tiny bit of one color, a tiny bit of another, swirl it around with the brush, and then mix in some water. Once upon a time, in digital art, I discovered really pale pink with a bit of orange creates a good skin color. I don't know if that applies to watercolor - feel free to experiment.

4. Well... that's all I learned from my misadventures with watercolor. There's this cheat, which sorta/kinda comes up with the same effect [link]. I personally find it easier and more fun, since it dries faster and has more color options (if you have a lot of markers), so... yeah.

I'm sorry I don't know what I'm doing, but I saw your other watercolor picture and loved it! I'm sure that this one isn't as bad as you think it is, and if it is, I don't think people will make fun of you for it - maybe just offer some lovely critiques. :)
Have a nice day!
